FOUL WATER DRAINAGE
Foul drainage is the waste water carried from toilets, sinks, washing machines and other appliances. The drainage pipework is installed above and below the ground. The above ground pipework is called ‘sanitary’ pipework, and the below ground is called ‘foul’ drains or sewers.
SURFACE WATER DRAINAGE
Surface Water Drainage is run off water from hard surfaces including rain, melted snow and ice. The below ground pipework is known as ‘surface water drains’ and ‘surface water sewers’. The above-ground system of gutters and rainwater pipes is known as roof drainage.
